Parking space: Do you have a car? or you planning to get one? is there a parking space that you will pay for and not use? can you rent it in that case?
Cost of extra parking space: What if you have a big family and have 2 cars, what is the cost of extra parking space if available.
Visitors parking: Visitors parking is very important when you have visitors coming by car.
Heaters: Heaters are electric or gas? electric ones costs more than gas ones when turned on.
Water heating: usually there is a timer for water heating, so it is not a big deal, and usually you can turn the heater at night only, saving money.
External light: Does the light enter the place? if it is dark place, it will be very depressing and you will have to turn on the lights day and night.
Air flow: Does it have good air flow?
Windows quality: Usually old buildings has old wood windows that is not very good in opening/closing, and doesn't isolate temperature and wind very good.
Security, cameras, closed compound: Some apartments are inside closed compound, no one can enter the compound unless he has the key, or someone let him inside. Some apartments also have cameras at the main entrance. This feels more secure when things like this exists.
Ground floor: Ground floors usually are more cheaper than other floors, the bad thing about them is you feel you live in the street, any one passing through your windows you will feel he is living with you. Another bad thing about ground floors, specially if there is some plants around is that they are more vulnerable to insects and ants. One more bad thing, they are easy to break, someone might break the balcony or window and break into your apartment.
Roof: Think about water isolation and roof robustness in case of rain and wind.
Noise from outside: if it is very close to busy street, and windows are not isolating noise, you will hear all the cars passing by in the street all time. Same as well if it is close to Train/Tram lines, you will hear the train passing, this will be very annoying specially early in the morning.
Noise from water pump: I have seen apartment where the pump is very close to the sleeping rooms, so if someone is sleeping and some other person used the bathroom, the pump voice is annoying to the sleeping persons.
Storage space: bigger store rooms are better of course.
Kitchen equipment: Does it have all the kitchen equipment or you will need to buy things for the kitchen?
Floor type: wooden floor is the best, easy to clean, feels warm in winter, if you have kids you won't feel sorry when they fall down. Down side of wood is that it needs careful when moving things on it, if any solid thing falls on it it will leave a mark.
Nearby landmarks: supermarkets or stores? Pharmacies? GP? Child care? Schools? public transportation? depending on your needs, think about close landmarks to the apartment.
Dishwasher: I have seen some apartments without dishwasher, it is becoming like a normal now that all the apartments have dishwasher.
Internet: is the apartment ready to be connected to internet?
Public transportation: is it close to any public transportation? think about your daily trips to work, or other places that you will have to go to.
Traffic around: If you will be using the car a lot, study the traffic from and to the area of the apartment, i have seen places where it takes 4-5 times, may be more to move around the area in rush time.
Storage in kitchen: some places have very limited storage in the kitchen, they look very nice but they have the washing machine and dish washer inside, which leave no room for other kitchen ware.
